Tonight, I will sing a song called Kol Nidre. In English, it means – “All Vows.” We are asking God to forgive all the promises we made and BROKE over the course of the year. It is a very solemn service. I wear white. It is about being pure. It is about being dignified. I wear no make up. I’m not even supposed to wear leather shoes. We are not supposed to enjoy having nice things like leather shoes. We do not eat. We do not drink (even water). We are trying very hard to think and be sorry for all the past wrongs. So in the spirit of this, I have to say this to you both:
I’m so sorry I couldn’t spare you both this situation. I will not make excuses to you. I should have been there more for you. I should have made myself SO apart of your lives, I couldn’t LEGALLY be separated from you. There was a way, I just didn’t think it was necessary at the time.
I’ve said this to your oldest brother and he has told me not to worry about it.
Please forgive me.
I love you.
And when we come back together, I will be even better than I was.
I promise.
And you know, I keep my promises.
😀
