We Fought For You

Dearest Purity and Bea,

Grandpa and I both served in the United States Air Force during the 1960’s.  The Vietnam War tore our country in half, with people fighting over whether we should even be involved in this issue overseas.  I was a lieutenant in the Nurse’s Corp at an Air Force Base in South Carolina.  Grandpa was a corpsman.  When we first met, Grandpa refused to follow my order.  (You know what a pain he can be!) We eventually fell in love.  In the meantime, the war raged in.  Today is Veterans Day.  I know life is not perfect, but you enjoy MANY freedoms because of the time your Grandfather and I served in the Armed Forces. I fought for you.  I wanted my children and their children to have the peace and security I did not have.  You have this.  Please remember our service to the United States today.

Love,

Grandma xxoo
