Today was Era Day at school. The staff and students were encouraged to dress up as a person from another era in history. I thought it would be fun to dress as a pilgrim since Thanksgiving is right around the corner. My outfit was a real big hit, of course. I had a good time playing a 17th century woman. Here is a pic of yours truly with a few of my coworkers:
When I was a little girl, your grandparents took me on a trip to New York and Boston. While we were in Boston, we went to a place called Plimoth Plantation. It is a recreation of a 1620’s village that the pilgrims lived in before the first Thanksgiving. I bought a bracelet there that I still wear every Thanksgiving. I must have been about 7 years old at the time. Wow, I’ve had that bracelet for almost forty years! Time does fly! Here is a cool video tour of Plimoth Plantation with master builder, Bob Villa. It’s interesting to see all the different ways that the pilgrims made their homes. And to think they had to cut every piece of wood by hand. Ugh! I’m thankful I don’t have to do that! I can just go to Home Depot and pick out what I want. Now that I have a home to decorate, I gotta keep that kinda stuff in mind. Enjoy the tour! Xxoo
