I don’t think I’ve ever told you about HOW I came to be Jewish. People still ask me why I decided to convert to Judaism. I guess it’s because (among lots of other reasons) I saw a better version of myself as a Jewish person. Twenty years later, I still do traditions (like getting my home cleaned for Passover) that are symbolic of living life as a Jewish woman. It was kind of like marrying the Jewish people. Their fate is now my fate. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been rewarding. God is “My Everything.” Whenever I’m lost and feeling afraid, I sit down with Him and tell him how I feel. Once upon a time, I only called upon him when I needed something. Today, he’s more like a close friend that I confide in. I don’t care if you follow God, Jesus, Buddha or Mohammed. I just hope you find something higher than yourself to believe in. It keeps you grounded when the world is crashing down around you. Find “Your Everything.” And keep Him/Her close to your heart.
