Ruth lived a long time ago in Moab which is in the present day Middle East.  She was a pagan priestess.  But she fell in love with a Jewish artisan named Malon.  She married him, but he died shortly after.  Her mother-in-law, Naomi wanted to go home to Judeah (Israel).  Ruth refused to let her go alone as she loved Naomi and Naomi was very old. Ruth followed Naomi back to Bethlehem.  She also started to follow the teachings of Judaism. Ruth will later become the Grandmother of the first king of Israel.
