Christians refer to this time as the Feast of Weeks or Pentacost.  Jews call it Shavuot (pronounced Sha- voo- ot).  In any case, this was the time of year to welcome the summer harvest.

We eat cheese blintz.  That’s kinda like a cheese crepe.  They are very yummy!

Jews make quite a big deal about this holiday.  We have these “stay up all night and study parties.”  What do we study at a party?  The story of Ruth in the Bible.  And we celebrate the Bible (or Torah) being given to us on Mount Sinai.

But the major focus is Ruth.  She’s a convert to Judaism.  She’s famous for telling her mother-in-law, Naomi “Wherever you go, I will go.  Wherever you lodge, I will lodge.  Your people shall be my people and your God, my God.”  Perhaps if Ruth sent a song to Naomi (like I do for you, sweet sisters) it might sound kinda like this…
