Dearest Bea,

I don’t have to remind you, you’ve got a ways to go.  But you’ll be driving soon and hopefully, that will help.  I hope your big sister has shown you how to do a few things, like use the DMV online testing site and how to access our website.

You have probably been wanting her to stay with you.  I don’t blame you.  It’s hard to watch others “fly off ” to new adventures.  Watching my sister go and have four kids while I had none was not easy, let me tell you.  I do understand how you feel.

Please support your sister in whatever choice she makes.  She does not have it easy.  Growing up is HARD!  Enjoy being a kid as long as you can.

Tonight, I have a cool memory for you from my childhood.  I used to watch The Addams Family when I was young.  It appealed to my dark side.  I was a bit scared of my dark side at your age.  This quote might have helped if I’d read it:

You are a survivor Bea!  Grandma was reminding me how very determined you are when you focus on something, like clothes shopping.  I’d give anything to walk around behind you as you looked for clothes.  You are very missed.  The next time you miss me, break out in the theme from the old tv show.  I used to watch it everyday after school.
