Prudence slept in very late the next morning.  But when she got up it was good to hear her brother and two younger sisters going at it in the pool…

“No!  Don’t throw me into the pool again!” screamed Bea.

“Yes!” announced Kris.  The next sound was a HUGE splash into the water.

“You are next!” said Kris.  He started to walk towards Purity.  Purity rushed to her sister’s side.

“I’m safe!” retorted Purity.

“I’m not your safe zone!” said Prudence.

“All right!” yelled Kris and he grabbed his middle sister.  But Purity was much taller than he anticipated.

“HA!” exclaimed Purity.  “Go throw Bea back in the pool.”

And Kris did as she suggested. 🙂

They did absolutely nothing for the rest of the morning. It was a fun morning.

Later in the afternoon, they decided to go on an excusion to a Masai village.  The Masai are a tribe of Africans who did not believe in hunting.  They keep cattle.  And they were very welcoming of tourists to Africa.

While in the Masai village, Purity started talking to a thirteen year old girl named Elisha.  Elisha showed them around the village including her home, her school and the waterpoint…

After they got into the Land Rover and started back to the conservancy, the girls started to talk about Elisha’s life and how it had affected them.

“I didn’t know people could be so poor,” said Bea.

“And it’s like she has NO idea how poor she really is,” said Purity.

“I don’t think she has any idea,” said Kris.  “That’s the only life she knows.”

“And she seems happy, doesn’t she?” asked Prudence.  “Kinda shows you that ‘you are only as happy as you make up your mind to be.'”

The rest of the way home.  Everyone in the Rover was silent.  In fact, it was so quiet, Prudence turned on some classical music and no one seemed bothered by it.  They just kept looking out the windows and seeing the incredible African landscape, the wild animals and the tenacious Masai tribal people who sometimes walked hours just to get their household water.
