Tonight, we celebrate the Festival of Ruth, or Shavuos (Sha- vu -os).  I’m sure I’ve posted about this before.  Traditionally, Jews stay up all night studying the Bible, especially the story of the faithful daughter in law: Ruth.

I took your oldest brother out for Middle Eastern food tonight.  He took one look at the menu and ran to the nearest Bakers Hamburger joint.  Oh well.  One can try to show him a taste of the wider world. Kinda funny – the last time I did this it was Chinese food.  You know how he loves Orange Chicken!

Anyway, on this holiday, we eat sweet dairy dishes like cheesecake and tell the story of the girl who refused to leave her beloved mother in law behind with these words…”Whither thou goest, I will go.  Whither thou lodgest, I will lodge.  Your people will be my people and your God, my God.” Here is her story for you.
