I’m not sure how you might be leaning spiritually, so I’m covering all my bases.  I hope you are lifted up in whatever faith brings you peace and comfort.

I was trying to do this post on Sunday night but, the candles were broken in the car on the way home.

Advent is a month long countdown to Christmas that Christians observe. They light a purple candle on the Sunday closest to November 30th. Then, they light a candle every Sunday after until Christmas Eve. Finally, Christians light the Christ candle.

Remember when we used to go to church on Christmas Eve?  You probably don’t remember the purple and pink candles.

The first week of Advent, you are supposed to focus on the hope of Christmas.  Before Jesus was born, life was very hard.  His preaching about “loving others as ourselves” was a very new concept.  His teachings gave people hope that perhaps there was a better way of living your life.  This edgy video explains advent better than I ever could.  Check it out!
