Listening to Angels tonight, as I do most Wednesday’s. My Hebrew School girls are here chanting the prayers they are going to do for their Bat Mitzvahs. There’s A LOT to learn before they can do it properly. And I’m learning too. I had my bat mitzvah, but I had it with other adults so there are some holes in my education. I’m going to be teaching this class someday, so I have to catch up. You see, if you do it right, you never stop learning.
I love this song by Nina Gordon because it comes from an angel’s point of view. It isn’t in Hebrew, of course, but it makes you think, “What must it be like to be a being a light?”
There are angels everywhere and they are watching over you. So, if one of them could talk, perhaps this is what they might say. There are a lot of metaphors here, so don’t be surprised if her “angel song” is hard to understand. But Nina’s rendition of “Tonight and the Rest of My Life,” is hauntingly lovely just like you… Purity and Bea. And when I imagine myself hugging you again, it feels like “the universe is resting in my arms.” Sleep well my angels. 🙂
