It’s the dead of winter. Most trees have list all their leaves. There are no buds on the branches. Essentially, the trees are dormant. They are sleeping. But the rain is nourishing the trees and will bring them to life in the spring. And we’ve had lots of rain lately – which is good.
Today marks Tu Bishvat: the celebration of trees. In Israel, spring is starting and the trees are waking up. We all go through periods where we are asleep. Now, it’s time to look forward to a “new season.”
Jews celebrate this holiday by having a special meal called a Seder. It’s like the one at Passover, but we serve dried fruits, nuts, fruit juice and honey. Check it out!
