This is so appropriate: this picture for both of you.  You may feel very alone (most teenagers do – I sure did) and you may resist this.

There IS a difference between sacrifice and surrender.  And it ALL comes down to your mindset.

If you decide you are sacrificing yourself – this isn’t good.  You will feel angry and your life will feel like drudgery.

But…you have ANOTHER choice: surrender.  Surrender is different because you choose to do it.  You “give in” because it truly is the best choice – for you.  You cannot win with the present circumstances so you allow the natural flow to take you to the next situation.  You will stop fighting. You will watch. You will gain strength. You will wait. You will wait until “your wings can carry you to the next adventure.”

You are both like the beautiful butterflies that people see flying south this time of year.  For a time, they were alone in a cocoon just waiting to be ready.  Your time will come.  In the meantime…surrender to the cocoon. Your time will come.
