Ganesha: Indian God of Luck

Today, I’ve been running around making the final preparations for my play: Mathematical MellowDramas.  As I’ve told you one of the plays is set in India.  So we needed an elephant mask for one of our actors.  But I wanted the mask to truly reflect the spirit of India so our elephant is painted blue.  When the mask is complete, the elephant will have swirls of color painted on his face.  He’ll look like the Indian God Ganesha.

Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva (divine being or god in Buddism) of intellect and wisdom. As the god of beginnings, he is honored at the start of rituals and ceremonies. Ganesha is also invoked as patron of letters and learning during writing sessions.

I do not pray to Ganesha, of course, but I like knowing about him.  People collect elephants with their trucks in the air.  This is an Indian sign of good luck.  If Ganesha can help our show gets some luck, I’ll be grateful.  I just finished making the elephant mask out of blue poster board.  It isn’t hard.  You just need paper or poster board, tape, scissors, paint or crayons.  You can have a good luck elephant too!  Check it out!

So, knowing how Bea loves to learn things and write, she’ll enjoy that video.  Purity loves the motivational music and songs.  This meditation is in honour of her.  Of course you can both make elephants and listen to the soft music.  Perhaps it will inspire you to see obstacles being removed?  With Lord Ganesh, anything is possible.
