I’m auditioning for a play tonight.  It’s called Steel Magnolias.  I’ve been in the play three times before.  This time, I’m going to play Ms. Ouiser.  She’s played by Shirley MacClaine in the movie.  In this clip, Ousier is wearing a black coat and is very grouchy.  How fun!  I get to let out my inner grouch.

I love this play because of its message, especially for women:

Auditions are just a formality.  The director just wants to hear how I sound with the other actresses.  We’ll be performing the play the last three weekends in August at the Eighth Street Theatre.  I’ve performed there before.  In fact, Purity might remember that I took her to a rehearsal once for a play I was doing.  It’s at the same theater.  Here’s a funny scene from the play/movie.
