How is it that some people just seem to land on their feet? What is their secret? Have they always had this ability?
To put the answer in one word, I’d say it has a lot to do with resiliency. What is THAT?
Resilience (noun) or Resiliency (noun) Able to recover quickly from misfortune; able to return to original form after being bent, compressed, or stretched out of shape. A human ability to recover quickly from disruptive change, or misfortune without being overwhelmed or acting in dysfunctional or harmful ways.
How do you do this? I guess I’d have to say my inner world plays a big role in this. There’s a lot going on inside my head that I don’t share with many people. I try to keep busy doing things I need to do – like going to the dentist. But I also pay attention when I hear myself say things like “wouldn’t it be fun to get a pedicure this weekend.” Sometimes, you just gotta make your own fun. And you really HAVE to do it! No cheating! How can other’s depend on you if you can’t even depend on yourself?! For example, last weekend, I promised myself an overnight in Palm Springs. I gave it to myself including a massage at the spa and some much needed time at the pool. Just imagine that you are in charge of your life. You may have to physically be somewhere, but it doesn’t mean you can’t “go out” mentally. And what your brain believes will manifest. “You CAN do magic. You can have anything that you desire.”
