Several months ago, my temple had a movie day.  The rabbi showed the movie, Noah. I was skeptical as Hollywood doesn’t tend to appreciate stories from the Bible.  But this movie was different.  It made the Bible story come to life.  Just recently, I bought a book and started to read it.  It’s called simply – Trust.  Its about how to learn to trust yourself, God, the people around you and life in general.  I loved what the author said about what she learned from the story of Noah:

1. Don’t miss the boat.
2. Remember that we are all in the same boat.
3. Plan ahead.  It was not raining when Noah built the ark.
4. Stay fit. When you are 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
5. Don’t listen to your critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
6. Build your future on high ground, which may not be ground you are familiar with.
7. For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.
8. Speed isn’t always an advantage.  The snails were onboard the ark with the cheetahs.
9. When you are stressed, float awhile.
10. Remember, the ark was built by amateurs, the Titanic was built by professionals.
